Sonny Crockett CDX WC
"Sonny"
Sonny Crocket was our first Golden. A rescue from the Seminole
County Florida Humane Society, we brought him into our home when he was about ten
months old. He was given up because his owner had no time for him.
We soon learned that Sonny had found ways to entertain himself. He destroyed then
ten year old Rob's toys. He escaped from the fenced yard whenenver he could. His
love was running, and he would make a game out of it.

Obedience school was a must, and Rob did the training, eventually earning a CDX. Health
prevented him from completing his UD. We also finally taught Sonny he could run
when we told him, as long as he would come when he was called. He became our exercise
boy by playing "chase me" games with our friends' goldens, and later our golden additions.
From our obedience instructor
we learned of the Mid-Florida Golden Retriever Club. We started training for a WC and
learning about Goldens. We participated in an entertainment special filmed
at Epcott center. Joanna said once "If Sonny is a 'throw-away' dog, then this
is a fantastic breed."
Sonny was responsible for the Bedfords joining the "dog world." Joanna often quoted,
"Without Sonny, we'd have more time, more money, and no friends."
